All websites registered in Spain are recognized by the .es top-level domain. The Spanish legislation offers the following secondary level domains (which are not compulsory when registering a website):
• .com.es – available for commercial entities;
• .nom.es – available for individuals representing themselves;
• .org.es – available for organizations with noncommercial activities;
• .gob.es – available for governmental entities;
• .edu.es – available for educational entities.

You can register a website with a certain name, for example “website.es” or “website.com.es”, as long as the name you are interested in is still available.
The Spanish legislation allows you to register a website either through an accredited registrar or through the red.es, an online platform functioning under the supervision of the Spanish government and of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.
The prices for registering a website may vary, according to the domain name you want to purchase or the entity with which you are working with. If you will register though red.es platform, the prices are the following:
• .es domain: EUR 33.38;
• .com.es domain: EUR 14.08;
• .nom.es domain: EUR 14.08;
• .org.es domain: EUR 14.08.
